Hot Hamburg Sandwich for 2

This is so easy to put together and so tasty. My husband says it is pure comfort food. I sometimes add a bit of hot sauce to the meat mixture and gravy to change it up a bit but it is just as tasty without.

INGREDIENTS
12 ounces ground beef
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon dried onion bits
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Montreal Steak Spice
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 cup good quality beef or vegetable broth mixed with 2 teaspoons cornstarch
2 gluten free bread slices

DIRECTIONS
Mix together the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, Montreal Steak Spice and chili powder and form into two patties.
Brown both sides of the patties and place in a loaf pan.
Pour the broth and cornstarch mixture over the browned patties, add the onion bits, cover with foil and cook in a preheated 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 1 hour.
Place patties on slices of bread and pour the gravy over both patties.
Enjoy!

  1. Made for the FYC Tag Game - I doubled this recipe because my pkg of grd meat was the perfect size for it & we'd get 2 meals from the recipe. It was served w/mashed potatoes & mixed veggies. It's an easy-fix & the flavor was excellent, but the "gravy" never thickened for me. My plan is to try to remedy that this evening & amend this report if successful.

    1. Thx for trying this and for taking the time to comment, it is greatly appreciated. I do hope your remedy works for a thicker gravy for you, please keep me posted as I am curious. This always thickens nicely for me :/

  2. I did this a bit differently but was very happy with the results. I used 8oz's of ground bison to make 2 patties and added the onion bits (3/4 Tbsp) into the meat in place of the onion powder and added the remaining seasonings in the full amount ask for. Skipped the gravy and bread. I enjoyed a "burger" with some butternut squash and a green salad.
