Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings

One of my favorite foods is chicken wings and I am always putting them together in different ways. These wings have a nice sweet tang to them and turn out tender and juicy so they do not need a sauce. You must use fresh squeezed lemon juice for this; the bottled stuff does not work well in this recipe. Processing the garlic through a garlic press offers a more garlicky taste to the wings then mincing them.

INGREDIENTS
1 pound split chicken wings
2 cloves garlic processed through garlic press
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon GF lemon pepper, plus more for sprinkling

DIRECTIONS
Place all the ingredients together in a large re-sealable freezer bag and seal it removing as much of the air as possible; swish together to coat wings.
Allow the wings to marinate refrigerated for at least 8 hours or overnight.
Remove the wings from the marinade and grill over direct heat turning over after every 2 minutes, until cooked through and no longer pink in the middle. The cook time will depend on how thick your wings are.
Sprinkle with a bit of lemon pepper and enjoy!

  1. Awesome wings...we loved these...the texture was perfect and the flavor was full of nice lemony tartness...really enjoyed the sprinkling of the lemon pepper after the wings were cooked...I cooked them in the oven at 400° for 30 mins...I threw them under the broiler for another 5 mins to get a nice crispness to them...made for FYC tag game...TeresaS

  2. I used this marinade on pieces, not just wings, and cooked in the oven, followed by broiler (It's February in Michigan). These were awesome! Made for Best of 2015. Sheepdoc

  4. Made as written for the FYC Tag Game - I was drawn to your recipe because the use of lemon pepper is among my favorite sources of flavor. Siggi is salt-restricted following a kidney transplant, so I rely heavily on it & am rarely disappointed. It works esp well here on chicken w/your combo of ingredients. These wings were tender & flavorful bites of goodness. Thx for sharing this recipe w/us. :-)
