Maple Rutabaga

This is a regular side dish is traditionally served at  family get togethers. 

INGREDIENTS
1 average size rutabaga
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
salt to taste
pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS
Peel and dice the turnip.
Place in a large pot and cover with water.
Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 25 to 30 minutes.
Drain the turnip and add the remaining ingredients.
Mash with a potato masher and serve.
