Don’t let the ingredient list send you away, this recipe is
actually quite easy and the wings are divine!!! Set how spicy these will be by
increasing or decreasing the hot pepper flakes, for loads of heat add cayenne.
As the recipe is written these are on the mild-medium side. I prefer using a foil pan for this as the sauce really sticks to the pan. It makes for easy clean-up, just toss the pan.
INGREDIENTS
3 pounds chicken wings
Sesame seeds, for garnish
Marinade:
2 tablespoons jarred prepared ginger
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/2 tablespoon GF reduced sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon fish sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 to 1 teaspoon hot pepper flakes
2 cloves garlic, pressed
Sauce:
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons hot water
2 tablespoons GF reduced sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
DIRECTIONS
Place all the marinade ingredients in a large re-sealable plastic bag; add wings mix to coat and refrigerate for 4 to 6 hours.
Bring the grill to medium-low heat and cook the wings turning often until cooked through, about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on how thick the wings are.
Meanwhile, whisk together the sauce ingredients in a large stainless steel bowl or foil pan; set aside.
When wings are fully cooked toss them in the bowl or foil pan with sauce mixing them to cover all the wings.
Increase heat to medium and place the bowl full of wings on the grill over direct heat.
Continue to cook for about 5-6 minutes tossing the bowl to stir wings every couple of minutes.
Remove from BBQ pour in a serving platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish.
Enjoy!
