Kapusta

Here is a polish side dish served traditionally with Easter or Christmas dinner.

INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup melted butter
1 handful finely shredded cabbage
1 1/2 cups diced GF Polish kielbasa
1 medium onion, diced
1 medium carrot, shredded
1 (500 ml) jar of sauerkraut, drained
Salt and Pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS
In large frying pan, melt butter and cook shredded cabbage, kielbasa, onion and carrot until just tender.
Add sauerkraut, salt and pepper and heat through.

  1. Oh my goodness! This is like the perfect comfort food! Interestingly, my grocery store only had fresh Kielbasa - which I took home and pan fried whole then diced. It was soooo good, and I'm sure it affected the flavor (positively, I might add!). Otherwise, followed the recipe exactly. I wondered why it called for shredded cabbage and sauerkraut - but think leaving out the fresh cabbage would be overwhelming. I halved the recipe, but wish I'd made the whole thing for some yummy leftovers! Thanks for sharing this great recipe, Bea!
