Here is a polish side dish served traditionally with Easter or Christmas
dinner.
INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup melted butter
1 handful finely shredded cabbage
1 1/2 cups
diced GF Polish kielbasa
1 medium
onion, diced
1 medium
carrot, shredded
1 (500 ml)
jar of sauerkraut, drained
Salt and
Pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
In large frying pan, melt butter and cook shredded
cabbage, kielbasa, onion and carrot until just tender.
Oh my goodness! This is like the perfect comfort food! Interestingly, my grocery store only had fresh Kielbasa - which I took home and pan fried whole then diced. It was soooo good, and I'm sure it affected the flavor (positively, I might add!). Otherwise, followed the recipe exactly. I wondered why it called for shredded cabbage and sauerkraut - but think leaving out the fresh cabbage would be overwhelming. I halved the recipe, but wish I'd made the whole thing for some yummy leftovers! Thanks for sharing this great recipe, Bea!
