This spread is a traditional recipe that was used to make sandwiches that were served up as a midnight snack along with egg salad sandwiches, cheese trays and mixed pickle trays at wedding parties. All the ladies in the bride's family would get together the night before the wedding and make loaves and loaves of sandwiches and appetizer trays. I still make this spread and have reduced the recipe to a small batch and I use it for sandwiches or serve it on crackers.
INGREDIENTS 1 1/2 cups cooked dinner ham 1/3 cup mayonnaise 1/3 cup sweet pickle relish 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Salt, to taste Pepper, to taste DIRECTIONS Mix all ingredients together in a food processor and process until mixture is of pate consistency. (You can also chop the ham for a more coarse consistency) Refrigerate until ready to use. Enjoy! *Please keep in mind that not all dried herbs and spices are gluten free so check the labels to make sure the brand you are using is gluten free. The same applies for prepackaged store-bought items, check the labels to be sure. If in doubt, call the toll free number on packaging to be safe and to make your cooking/eating experience truly gluten free.
I had some leftover baked ham to use up and this recipe was perfect. I made as directed with no changes. Great spread with crackers and I might even stuff some boiled eggs as well.

ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked this, thx for the lovely comment. I am sure the addition of boiled eggs would work nicely.
