Maple Soy Ribs

These delicious ribs are so easy to put together and they taste great! The subtle hint of the ground clove works very well with the other ingredients. I make these often for pot-luck dinners and they are always a hit. These are boiled first in ginger ale, then you can either place them under the broiler to crisp them or you can grill them, both methods work well.

INGREDIENTS
2 racks pork ribs (1 1/2 to 2 pounds)
1 (355 ml) can ginger ale
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 head garlic
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons GF soy sauce
1 tablespoon GF oyster sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon Sriracha sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Pinch ground cloves

DIRECTIONS
Peel the garlic and crush the cloves; toss them into a pot.
Cut the ribs into individual portions and add to the pot.
Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the ribs and pour the can of ginger ale in the pot; bring to a boil over medium-high heat and simmer uncovered for 45 minutes or until there is about 1/4" of liquid left in the pan.
Mix the remaining ingredients together in a large bowl and set aside.
Remove the ribs from the pot, reserving the liquid and broil or grill them for a couple of minutes per side or until you have a nice golden brown crust.
Pour the reserved liquid from the pot into the maple mixture and toss with the ribs making sure they are well coated.
Enjoy!

  1. Both the hubby and I loved this...it's so easy to prepare...I used a 20oz bottle of ginger ale...it barely covered the ribs...so while they were simmering I would move them around so all would be cooked in time...I really didn't realize until I was prepare the dish that it calls for a HEAD not a clove of garlic...good thing I had one...the meat came out so tender and the maple flavor was awesome...it wasn't overpowering the dish but you could really taste it...I broiled mine...yummy...made for For Your Consideration tag game...TeresaS

  2. Bea, this recipe is awesome. We loved it. So much flavor, so easy to make. The spare ribs were amazingly tender and the sauce to die for. I love the flavor that the ginger ale gives the meat and sauce...so good. I used Schwepps Dark Ginger Ale in this dish, it worked beautifully. I made this exactly as written and wouldn't change a thing. Made FYC Tag Game...(bk)
